Very Western temple rings for the Queen of the West

Cut and etched brass temple rings worn by Her Majesty of the West at coronation. They feature the populace badges of the Kingdom and the three principalities. Demi sun for the West, sea lion for the Mist, Swan for Cynagua, and star for Oertha. While the form of these temple rings is in the style of Ilmenskii Slavena, the largest east Slavic tribe near Veliki Novgorod, the method of decoration is not. Extant finds from this region tend to contain stamped decorations. While etching with ferric chloride solutions existed in the SCA period, I don’t have any evidence that this technique would have been used by the Ilmenskii Slavena. Mostly these were just for funsies.

My Temple Rings

For personal use I chose a more traditional approach. These tiered temple rings are made of three sets of cut and stamped brass spangles, also in the Novgorod style.

Dainty temple rings for a fun sized Queen

Since apparently making temple rings for Queens is fun, so I made this more dainty pair that felt just right for Jika’s style.

Brass vigil tokens

On the occasion of my elevation, I wanted to create vigil tokens that both reflected my personality and were functional (which is probability what make them the most reflective of me). I created small penannular brooches in brass and added small glass drop of blood charms. They turned out the be extremely functional and I use the leftovers all the time.

Personalized Temple Rings for Ciar of Skye

I was asked to create personalized temple rings for Countess Ciar of Skye as a court gift upon her step down. They feature her device in the large triangle and a rose in each spangle.

Pelican Medallion

As a new member of the Order of the Pelican I wanted a medallion that went with my Roman garb. This one turned out a bit too flashy for my personal taste, but will go to a friend who’s style it will work better with.

Oertha inspired temple rings

Cut and etched brass temple rings made as part of a gift given to their Highnesses of Oertha from the Highnesses of Cynagua at Great Western War in 2023. They feature components of the Oerthan arms.
